The Role of Creative Human Capital in the Knowledge Economy

Abstract. Introduction. The beginning of the ХХІst century is characterized by the transition from an industrial economy to a post-industrial or knowledge economy, which is accompanied by qualitative changes both in the economy and in society. That is why the creation of new information and new knowledge began to play an increasingly important role in the creation and multiplication of national wealth, where scientific knowledge and specialized unique human skills became the key factors in the development of tangible and intangible production. In the knowledge economy, the main source of productivity is not so much the influence of knowledge on the knowledge itself, but rather the strengthening of the creative abilities of a person in the creation and effective use of new scientific knowledge.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the essence of creative human capital and its role in the knowledge economy as the main factor of production.

Results. The functioning of the knowledge economy causes not only a significant change in the nature of economic processes and institutions, but also a change in human activity as the basis for the functioning of the knowledge economy under the influence of new social, technological, and economic processes. In the knowledge economy there is a transformation from the rationality of the “economic person” to the passionate, “creative” person, who values and is motivated by creative activity and self-development. As knowledge and information become the dominant productive resource, the most valuable and essential qualities of employees is their high educational and professional level, their intellectual and creative potential. The main source of human progress in terms of economic knowledge is creative activity, which creates a qualitatively new and unique product, distinguished by its very uniqueness and originality. In turn, creativity is a function of the creative potential of a person, on the basis of which the creative human capital is formed.

Conclusions. To sum up, the main task of creative human capital in the knowledge economy is the creation of new, unusual, non-standard ideas, the ability to solve problems quickly and complete tasks of socio-economic development, based on non-traditional thinking schemes. Thus, the formation of an effective creative human capital turns into the main source of competitive advantages for the country and society.
