Business Diagnostics as a Tool for Substantiating Innovative Development Projects of an Enterprise

Abstract. Introduction. Business diagnostics is not only a tool for identifying problem areas and growth potential, but also a means of substantiating innovative projects that form the strategic basis for modernising enterprises.

Purpose. This article aims to provide a theoretical basis for the use of business diagnostics as a tool for supporting innovative development projects within enterprises, and to determine its role in strategic decision-making processes aimed at enhancing business efficiency and competitiveness.

Results. This article examines the importance of business diagnostics as a key tool for supporting an enterprise’s innovative development projects in a rapidly changing market environment. The author provides their own definition of the essence of business diagnostics. It emphasises the tool’s role as a systemic, analytical and predictive mechanism that assesses internal and external factors of an enterprise’s activity, supporting management in making decisions about implementing innovations. The stages of business diagnostics for substantiating innovative development projects are systematised and detailed. These stages include a comprehensive analysis of the enterprise’s external environment, an assessment of its internal processes and resource potential, and a forecast of the effectiveness of innovative initiatives. They also involve the formation of strategically sound management decisions and the creation of a feedback system to enable timely adjustments to activities and increase the enterprise’s adaptability. Business diagnostics provides systematic analytical support for innovation projects, creates a reliable information base for assessing risks and predicting results, and increases the economic feasibility of management decisions. It also promotes the integration of innovation initiatives with the enterprise’s resource capabilities and long-term strategic goals.

Conclusions. Business diagnostics is an effective tool for supporting the enterprise’s innovative development projects, as it uses analytical, predictive and management approaches to provide a comprehensive assessment of the organisation’s internal and external environments, identifying key influencing factors, problem areas and potential reserves. Systematic monitoring, feedback and performance assessment enable enterprises to adjust management decisions in a timely manner, increasing adaptability and ensuring sustainable competitive development.
