Aspects of Business Process Management in the Hotel Industry to Increase the Efficiency of Enterprises

Abstract. Introduction. Hotel enterprises operate in a dynamic environment characterized by unstable demand, crisis factors, growing online sales channels, and an increasing focus on customer experience as a competitive advantage. Under these conditions, business process management becomes particularly relevant. This approach involves viewing the activities of a hotel enterprise as a set of interconnected processes, including booking, guest service, personnel management, finances, quality, and marketing communications. This approach increases management transparency, optimizes resource use, ensures stable service standards, and improves management decision-making efficiency.

Purpose. Despite the significant body of scientific literature on general management, strategic development, and competitiveness in the hospitality industry, the practical application of business process management in hotels requires further in-depth research. In particular, identifying the key business processes of hotel enterprises, determining their impact on service quality and financial results, and adapting the process approach to the conditions of hotel operation in Ukraine remain insufficiently systematized. This study is relevant because there is a need to develop effective management strategies that ensure the competitiveness of hotel enterprises by optimizing and regulating business processes, introducing digital management tools, and focusing on consumer needs.

Results. Another aspect of the problem is the fragmented implementation of digital management tools within hotel enterprises’ activities. Often, information systems are used in isolation without being integrated into a single business process management model. This limits the possibilities of analytics, planning, and making informed management decisions. Consequently, digitalization fails to realize its potential as a tool for enhancing efficiency and competitiveness.

Conclusions. There is a scientific and practical problem consisting of the lack of systematic substantiation of business process management aspects in the hotel industry, considering the specifics of how hotel enterprises function in Ukraine. Approaches to combining process management, digital solutions, and service quality orientation into a holistic management model are insufficiently developed. Solving this problem requires an in-depth scientific analysis and the formation of practical recommendations for improving business process management in the hotel industry. This study is therefore relevant and focused.
