Assessment of the Environmental Component of the Economic and Environmental Potential of the Agro-Industrial Complex in Vinnytsia Region<\/b><\/p>\n

Abstract. Introduction<\/i><\/b>. <\/span><\/i>Modern conditions of agro-industrial development in Ukraine require a rethinking of how sectoral potential is assessed, with increasing focus on environmental sustainability. This is especially relevant for highly intensive agricultural regions such as Vinnytsia, where the negative impact on natural ecosystems is growing due to resource overexploitation and outdated production technologies.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Purpose<\/i><\/b>. The purpose of this article is to comprehensively assess the level of environmental pressure caused by the agro-industrial complex of Vinnytsia region through the analysis of pollutant emissions, spatial differentiation of pollution sources, and evaluation of regional waste management trends in the context of sustainable development.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Results<\/i><\/b>. The study identifies the main types and volumes of pollutant emissions from stationary sources, outlines the spatial distribution of environmental loads across districts, and tracks changes in waste generation and processing. It reveals that emissions are concentrated in areas with energy and agro-processing industries, while positive trends include growing recovery rates and reduced landfill usage. Regulatory innovations promoting integrated environmental permits are also assessed.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Conclusions<\/i><\/b>. The ecological burden of the agro-industrial complex in Vinnytsia region is multi-level and spatially heterogeneous. Sustainable development is only possible with the modernization of production technologies, implementation of best available practices, enhanced environmental control, and a shift toward circular economy principles. Legislative changes in Ukraine create favorable conditions for aligning environmental policy with EU standards.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
