Assessment of the Efficiency of Ecological Innovation Management at an Enterprise
Abstract. Introduction. In the context of global climate change and Ukraine’s strategic course toward European integration, environmental aspects of enterprise activity are becoming increasingly important. For domestic enterprises, particularly in the agricultural sector, ecological innovations serve as a critical tool for ensuring sustainable development, strengthening market positions, and expanding export opportunities. However, recent exogenous challenges have necessitated a revision of strategic approaches and the development of new methods for managing environmental development. Existing approaches lack a comprehensive toolkit for assessing the synergy between production efficiency and the environmental characteristics of products, creating strategic barriers for enterprises.
Purpose. The purpose of the article is to develop and substantiate a comprehensive scientific and practical approach to assessing the efficiency of ecological innovation management at an enterprise.
Results. The study proposes an integrated approach based on the combination of resource efficiency and consumer loyalty, forming a unified assessment system. An author’s model built on the integral index (IE_ei) is developed, incorporating two functional blocks: environmental factors ensuring production resource efficiency and external effects related to product consumption. The application of this approach to agricultural enterprises demonstrated recovery elasticity in recent years. It was found that the growth of environmental efficiency indicators in consumption (62.53%) exceeds that in production (47.05%), indicating a shift in management strategies. The findings reveal a transition from survival-oriented and imitative modernization strategies to proactive management of ecological innovations and the creation of environmental brand value.
Conclusions. The research confirms the effectiveness of implementing ecological innovations in ensuring sustainable enterprise development. The proposed methodological approach enables the assessment of economic efficiency, return on investment, and future investment potential in ecological innovations. The results can be applied by enterprise managers to enhance competitiveness and support informed decision-making in environmental management.
