Conceptual perspectives of the development of “green” farm business in Ukraine
Abstract. Introduction. As global concern over climate change and environmental degradation grows, there is an increasing need for sustainable agricultural practices. Global experience shows that green business contributes to economic prosperity, environmental balance and resource optimization. The article presents a detailed analysis of the conceptual perspectives, untapped opportunities, and potential for the development of green business in Ukrainian farms, which would contribute to environmental protection and the use of renewable energy sources in the agricultural sector and ensure food security. By examining the integration of sustainable practices and innovative technologies, this study aims to highlight the transformational potential of the agricultural sector. The study analyzed the adoption of green technologies, such as renewable energy sources, biogas systems, and organic farming methods (application of organic fertilizers), to increase productivity and minimize environmental impact. An overview of environmental business practices in the agricultural sector is presented. Significant attention is paid to the role of green business in promoting economic growth, energy independence , resource efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
Purpose. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the peculiarities of green business implementation and its prospects in Ukrainian farms. The potential of green business initiatives in Ukrainian agriculture is studied, with a focus on innovative technologies, environmental benefits, and economic opportunities for farms.
Results. The results show that the introduction of green business technologies, such as solar and wind energy, biogas systems, and rural green tourism, offers significant benefits to farmers in terms of energy efficiency and diversified sources of income. By adopting organic farming methods, in particular, farmers can reduce their dependence on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, increase biodiversity, and improve soil and water quality. The use of renewable energy sources, such as biogas systems and solar panels, provides opportunities for energy self-sufficiency and cost savings, which would optimize resource management, increase productivity and minimize environmental impact.
Conclusions. The study concludes that the development of green agricultural business in Ukraine is a promising way to ensure sustainable agricultural development. Based on the analysis of green business practices in Ukrainian farms, it can be concluded that the introduction of sustainable practices is the basis for achieving long-term growth, increasing profitability, efficient use of farm resources, preserving the environment and meeting the demands of modern environmentally conscious consumers. The study emphasizes the potential of this type of business as a key factor in economic development, energy independence, and the production of environmentally friendly products. However, successful implementation requires proper policies, financial incentives, access to finance and knowledge-sharing platforms, and initiatives to build the capacity of green farmers to promote and support the adoption of green technologies and practices in the agricultural sector and realize the concept of green business in Ukraine. Cooperation between the government, farmers, agricultural associations and stakeholders is crucial to create a favorable ecosystem and environment for the widespread adoption of green business practices in Ukrainian agriculture.
