An analytical review of the current state of development of the crop sector in the Mykolaiv region
Abstract: Introduction. Crop production plays a significant role in agriculture in Ukraine. More than half of the fund for the consumption of basic food products is formed at the expense of the crop industry. Gross production of crops has been steadily increasing over the past years. In 2017, crop production accounted for 66.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) of agriculture, produced by all categories of farms, and 77.3% of gross domestic product produced by agricultural enterprises. At the same time, the significant economic potential of the Ukrainian and Mykolaiv region is not used effectively enough, which generates serious social problems in the countryside, negatively affecting the growth rates of the economy of the region and the country as a whole.
Purpose. The purpose of the study is to analyze the state of the crop industry, identify the current problems of the industry and determine the main avenues for their solution, taking into account the goals of sustainable development of Ukraine 2016-2030.
Results. The modern state of the field of plant growing in the Mykolaiv region is analyzed. The current economic situation regarding the productivity and volume of production in the industry is evaluated. In particular, the crop area of the main types of agricultural crops in all categories of farms is investigated: the share of the main categories of farms in the total crop area of the Mykolaiv region; the structure of sown areas of the main groups of crops in the Mykolaiv region; the share of sown area of food and feed grain crops in the enterprises of Mykolaiv region; productivity of the main groups of agricultural crops in all categories of farms of the Mykolaiv region; dynamics of production of main types of crops in all categories of farms of Mykolaiv region; the ratio of the main categories of farms in the Nikolaev region in the production of the main types of crop production.
Conclusions. According to the results of the research, the current problems of the industry were identified and the main avenues for their solution were determined, taking into account the Sustainable Development Goals of Ukraine 2016-2030, in particular, SDGs2 “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”.
