Competitive Strategies of Energy Companies in the French Market
Abstract. Introduction. The modern French energy market is characterized by increasing competition, regulatory changes, and the rapid development of renewable energy and digital technologies, creating both challenges and opportunities for energy companies. To remain competitive, companies must adapt their strategies to evolving market conditions, invest in innovation, and respond to growing consumer demand for clean and flexible energy solutions. This article examines the competitive strategies of energy companies in France, focusing on Électricité de Strasbourg (ÉS) as a case study of a regional utility navigating these changes.
Purpose. The purpose of this article is to analyze the competitive strategies of energy companies operating in France and to identify the challenges and opportunities they face. While the study provides a broader market overview, special attention is given to Électricité de Strasbourg as an example of a company adapting to the evolving energy landscape.
Results. The article reviews the structure of the French energy sector, analyzes key market players, and examines competitive dynamics. It identifies strategic approaches such as integrating renewable energy, implementing digital solutions, and improving personalized customer service. The study also shows how companies, in particular Électricité de Strasbourg, are addressing regulatory, economic and technological challenges, while highlighting opportunities for growth and market expansion.
Conclusions. The transition to renewable energy, digital transformation, and a focus on innovative services present significant opportunities for energy companies in France to strengthen their market positions. The case of Électricité de Strasbourg illustrates how a regional utility can leverage these trends to improve its competitiveness and contribute to the sustainable development of the energy sector in France.
