Determination of Prospects of Farmsteads with Different Sowing Areas by Size of their Profits
Introduction. The article considered the current tendency of the development of farmsteads, which is also fixed on the level of the national government program in Ukraine. Farms are the most widespread form of agricultural business in Ukraine by the number of enterprises, but at the same time they are significantly inferior to agricultural holdings both in acreage of land and in the volume of sales. That is why farms have the potential to increase gross yields. But they are also an important mechanism for regulating the relevant market and rural development in general.
Purpose. The aim of this article is to define the categories of agricultural enterprises by areas of sowing which have profit on the level at least sufficient to ensure the viability of the farm and economic prosperity of their founders.
Results. There was analysed an economic situation of agrarian enterprises with different areas of sowing of different forms of economic entities, in particular, farms, their indicators of economic efficiency. According to the results of the research, farms with acreages of up to 100 hectares have lower efficiency in terms of the amount of profit per person, even in the case of equal productivity. The size of this indicator for a group of agricultural enterprises with a sown area up to 100 hectars is compared with the average wage in Ukraine, and it is always 2-3 times less than the same in other groups of enterprises by sown area. Then enterprises with a sown area of up to 100 hectares need support to increase their sowing area, in particular through cooperation.
Conclusions. Increasing the volume at all stages of production, including sowing and selling, will allow small agricultural producers to compete with the intermediary structures and big businesses which occupy the most attractive markets, including the international ones. Priority areas for further research include searching for logical links between government land policy and the prospects for farms in young economies, also searching for economic, tax, financial, and other factors which influence the development of corporate entities of agricultural enterprises and individual farms.
Keywords: profit, area of sowing, farming, cereals and legumes, entrepreneur’s compensation, efficiency, yield.
