Development of Dairy Cooperatives in the World
Abstract. Introduction. The authors evaluated the development of dairy cooperatives in different countries of the world. During the research, the authors analyzed the leading dairy cooperatives in the world that produce the largest amount of dairy products and are considered giants in their field, such as Dairy Farmers of America (USA), Fonterra (New Zealand) and Group Lactalis (France).
Purpose. The main purpose of the research is to study is to consider the global cooperative experience in the dairy business, taking into account the prospects for the development of the industry.
Results. The development of dairy cooperatives in the conditions of economic globalization, which covers many countries, was considered. Analytical evaluation was carried out on the basis of information about the activities of the largest cooperatives in the world, activities of the Fonterra cooperative on the stock exchange, data of international organizations, in particular data of the International Cooperative Alliance, the work of domestic and foreign scientists who studied the problems of the creation and development of cooperatives. The authors used the following methods during the research: statistical, graphic, generalization, classification, explanation, description, etc. The development strategy of the Dairy Farmers of America cooperative association and their milk production process are considered. It was determined that an important advantage of the Fonterra cooperative is access to the stock market. The distribution of sold finished products at the Group Lactalis cooperative was analyzed. It was determined that the cooperative associations of farms most effectively affect the activity if the cooperative is created on a voluntary basis with the understanding and awareness of the members, how to combine resources to achieve the main common goal – obtaining maximum profit at minimum costs.
Conclusions. The authors proved that the development of dairy cooperatives has significant potential in improving the living conditions of the rural population, ensuring the stability of the dairy market and sustainable development of agriculture. It was established that the development of dairy associations in the form of cooperatives contributes to the introduction of innovations in the field of dairy production.
