Effective Use of Land Potential: Theoretical and Practical Aspects
Abstract. Introduction. The article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of the effective use of land potential, explains the differences between the terms “effectiveness” and “efficiency”, the nuances of their meaning and application.
Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the theoretical and practical aspects of the effectiveness of the use of land potential.
Results. It is established that effective land use involves balanced, scientifically based, planned use of land resources with maximum benefits and minimum costs. The term “effect” is understood as the result of various actions or measures, such as increased yield or productivity in agricultural settings, “efficiency” has a more detailed approach, representing the efficiency achieved per unit of resources used in the process.
The analysis of the works of national scientists makes it possible to distinguish various aspects of efficiency, such as technical, cost, economic, technological, social, environmental, etc. Effective land management requires a holistic approach that brings together different perspectives, knowledge and experience to create synergies for sustainable agricultural practices.
It was found that the relatively low efficiency of using available land resources in comparison with agricultural enterprises of Central and Western Europe leads to the lack of potential profit of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine and requires the attraction of additional amounts of credit funds to finance current operational activities.
Conclusions. The conducted research provides information on various aspects and types of efficiency of agricultural land use. “Effect” is considered as the result of any actions or measures. “Efficiency”, on the other hand, is defined as effectiveness, i.e. the result obtained per unit of resources used. Thus, efficiency measures how effectively resources are used in production.
Keywords: efficiency, land potential, land, effect, use of resources, rational land use.
