Food Safety as a Direction of Post-War Recovery of Ukraine
Abstract. Introduction. The situation in which Ukraine found itself due to military operations on its territory constantly raises pressing issues. In this research we consider the issue that has become a common factor for social, economic and environmental problems in the context of war – the issue of food security and food safety in modern conditions.
Purpose. The issue of food safety is particularly relevant, and an important part of it is the production of products that require safety and quality requirements. The article assesses the state of food safety, systematizes the main safety problems and factors of falsification. The article discusses the main ways to harmonize state policy in ensuring the quality and safety of products in accordance with international standards.
Results. The author proves the importance of a warning system aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of food products, especially in the current conditions of the country’s war against the aggressor. Due to the availability of cheap food raw materials in the food distribution systems and the fact that the legislative framework of Ukraine is not ideal, it can be assumed that there is a high threat of negative impact on our health as a result of consumption of falsified food.
Conclusions. From the research outline the directions of post-war recovery of Ukraine in the agricultural sector, namely: demining and restoration of fertile land in the de-occupied territories; provision of preferential loans to farmers; attraction of foreign investors; introduction of advanced technologies in agriculture and product processing; modernization of logistics routes.
Keywords: food safety, standards, post-war reconstruction, economy, gross national product, tax benefits, food safety, counterfeiting, quality, food additives.
