Methodical Approach to Financial Safety of Styvished Companies with Use of Price Risk Holdings
Abstract. Introduction. Of particular importance was the formation of the financial security of stevedoring companies. First of all, it concerns the definition of calculation methods, the establishment of a complex of data in the integral indicator, as well as the consideration of specific sectoral features of enterprises. Therefore, we consider it appropriate to further develop methodological approaches to ensuring the financial security of stevedoring companies.
Purpose. The purpose of this study is to develop methodological approaches to assess the financial security level of stevedoring companies using price risk hedges. An algorithm for evaluating the financial security of stevedoring companies has been developed, including the implementation of a number of logical steps that will provide a methodological sequence of actions and decisions on managing their financial security.
Results. Activities of stevedoring companies as subjects of foreign economic activity are prone to financial instability and risk. They invest in imported equipment and usually plan to buy in foreign currency. Exchange rate fluctuations, in turn, can contribute to the improvement and deterioration of the financial security of the stevedoring companies, so risk must be taken into account in the course of doing business and the appropriate financial risk management methodology applied. It is advisable to use an effective financial instrument for currency risk management – hedging. To solve the problem of finding the optimal amount of money on foreign currency deposits for investing in equipment, a pricing model was developed, which is a trinomial tree.
Conclusions. The implementation of the proposed methodological approaches in the practice of stevedoring companies will increase the efficiency of the management system and the assessment of their financial security level.
Keywords: financial safety; investment in equipment; hedging of price risks; stevedoring company, trinomial tree.
