Organization of Management Accounting in Banking Institutions
Abstract. Introduction. Due to the extreme dependence on modern communication and information systems, as well as the expansion of the global banking market, the business environment of these commercial institutions has undergone constant changes over the past decade. These innovations have led to a review by the owners and top management of commercial banks of the goals and strategic objectives that must be implemented in order to strengthen their competitiveness.
Purpose. The purpose of the article is to define and establish the content and role of the stages of organizing management accounting in banking institutions.
Results. The article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations of the organization of management accounting in commercial banks as one of the key tools of effective financial and economic management. The authors emphasize the need to adapt accounting systems to the dynamic conditions of the banking environment, caused by the intensive development of information technologies, digitalization and changes in the strategies of banking institutions. The main stages of the implementation of management accounting are determined: identification of management needs, selection of methodology, determination of objects and subjects of accounting, selection of information technologies, organization of document flow, implementation of a control system and personnel training. Particular attention is paid to accounting by responsibility centers, which allows analyzing the activities of structural units and services of the bank, taking into account their economic efficiency. The authors also emphasize the importance of accurately defining accounting objects, such as income, expenses, profit, banking products and operations. The role of modern IT solutions and automation of processes in management accounting, which contribute to the operational formation of reporting and control over resources, is separately considered.
Conclusions. The process of organizing management accounting in a banking institution is a unique tool, adapted to the specific structure, goals and operating conditions of each individual bank. It plays a strategic, technical and operational role, contributing to increased responsibility, control and achievement of high results in the financial and economic management of a financial institution.
