Precision Agriculture as a Direction of Modernization of Agricultural Production
Abstract. Introduction. The article considers the importance of precision agriculture as a necessary direction of modernization of agricultural production.
Purpose. The aim of the article is to study the system of precision agriculture in the context of modernization of agricultural production and to develop the main directions of its progress.
Results. It has been established that precision farming is a new concept that has been developing rapidly over the last two decades. It can meet many of the challenges of climate change and the environment. This technology also has a positive effect on the quantity and quality of agricultural production, while using lower costs. Various definitions of authors who represent specific dimensions of this concept are studied. It is determined that the main prerequisites for precision agriculture are: food crisis, population growth; ecological crisis, climate change; innovative development, digitalization of production and search for ways to increase production efficiency. The purpose of precision farming is to optimize costs, economic growth, improve product quality, protect the environment. The economic, technical-innovative, ecological and social efficiency of the introduction of precision agriculture is substantiated. A number of obstacles to the application of precision farming methods have been studied: the need for special skills, investment costs and low profitability, as well as the lack of support and advisory services. The main directions of development of precision agriculture at the macro and micro levels, which contribute to the modernization of the agar sector of the economy, are systematized.
Conclusions. Precision agriculture is an important area of modernization of agricultural production, which has significant economic, technical and innovative, environmental and social effects.
Keywords: agricultural production; efficiency; modernization; precision agriculture.
