Strategic Directions of Digitalization for Ensuring Sustainable Development of the Country
Abstract. Introduction. The article examines digitalization as a strategic factor in ensuring a country’s sustainable development amid global transformations and military challenges. It highlights the role of digital technologies in modernizing the economy, transforming public administration, and fostering an inclusive society. It also draws attention to digital inequality, manifested by unequal Internet access between urban and rural areas, as well as insufficient digital literacy among certain population groups. At the same time, the article notes positive trends in Internet usage growth and improvement in digital skills among citizens, especially older generations.
Purpose. The article aims to analyze digitalization’s role in strengthening national resilience, identify the main challenges and opportunities of digital transformation, and assess its contribution to sustainable economic, social, and environmental development.
Results. The study reveals that digitalization has become a fundamental driver of innovation and competitiveness. The labor market in information technology is growing dynamically, with an increasing number of IT specialists and a growing contribution of the IT industry to the country’s GDP. Business digitalization enhances enterprise competitiveness, promotes innovation, and facilitates integration into global markets. Particular attention is given to the development of digital public services, such as the Diia portal and mobile app, “ProZorro” and “e-Health, ” which increase transparency, efficiency, and trust between the state, its citizens, and businesses. The study also analyzes Ukraine’s position in international digital transformation indices, allowing for an assessment of its integration into the global digital space. Creating the Digital Transformation Index of Ukrainian Regions highlights regional disparities and local development potential.
Conclusions. In conclusion, strategic digitalization is a vital tool for achieving sustainable development goals in economic, social, and environmental areas. Effectively implementing digital transformation policies enhances competitiveness, ensures resilience in times of crisis, and promotes Ukraine’s integration into European and global digital markets.
