Sustainable Community Development in Digitalization: Innovative Management Models Using Ai and Digital Technologies
Abstract. Introduction. Global challenges such as rapid urbanization, complex resource management, and unequal access to technology threaten economic stability, social integration, and environmental sustainability. In Ukraine, these issues are further complicated by national priorities such as decentralization and post-war reconstruction, requiring innovative governance solutions. Digitalization, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, is becoming a transformative approach to improving community resilience and promoting sustainable development.
Purpose. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies can contribute to sustainable community development through innovative management models. It aims to assess their potential to optimize resources, improve public services, and increase citizen engagement, while also addressing issues such as data protection and digital inequality. The focus is on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Results. The study found that AI-based models can reduce traffic congestion and energy consumption by up to 30% in cities such as Amsterdam and Barcelona. Meanwhile, rural initiatives in Indonesia and India have increased crop yields by 25% and reduced pesticide use by 30%. In Ukraine, pilot projects could reduce infrastructure restoration costs by 15%. However, obstacles include privacy risks, high energy demand for AI, and a lack of digital skills: only 35% of Ukrainians possess digital skills, and internet access in rural areas is about 50%.
Conclusions. Artificial intelligence and digital technologies present significant opportunities for sustainable community development, increasing efficiency and inclusiveness. However, their successful implementation depends on resolving ethical, environmental, and accessibility issues. Recommendations include expanding digital infrastructure, ensuring compliance with ethical standards in AI, and improving digital literacy, particularly in Ukraine, to support recovery and equitable growth.
