Increasing the Economic Efficiency of Vine-Growing in the Conditions of a Market Economy
Abstract. Introduction. Grapes and their processing products include a high concentration of sugars, organic acids, minerals, pectin, and vitamins. The production and sale of grapes and wine products is one of the major sources of tax revenues for the budget because there is a growing global demand for grapes and grape wines. Viticulture is a capital-intensive industry, the establishment of vineyards and the costs of their cultivation in the non-productive period require significant investments, while the majority of farms do not have them, and long-term lending is not sufficiently developed. The relevance and necessity of solving these problems determined the choice of the research topic.
Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the state of grape production in Ukraine and to substantiate foreign experience in increasing the economic efficiency of viticulture in the conditions of a market economy.
Results. Ukraine is considered a relatively new producer by global giants in the grape and wine sector, including France, Italy, and Spain. But historically speaking, wine has been produced in our country, especially in the southern part of Ukraine, for many centuries rather than only a few decades. This is supported by historical data and facts. Since ancient times, Ukrainian regions have had favorable climate conditions for the production of grape products.
An examination of research on the optimization of grape production across national boundaries demonstrates that the selection of a particular technology is the primary factor influencing the industry’s competitiveness and the profitability of producing culture. The way the products are assembled affects their quality.
Conclusions. With declining productivity and gross product production, the domestic grape sector faces challenges in the modern era. Factors impacting the industry were the takeover of Crimea, the loss of foreign sales markets, the COVID-19 epidemic, and the war with Russia, which resulted in a decline in consumer spending power.
Climate change also plays a role in the growth of the grape industry, which in turn expands the geographic area of viticulture in Ukraine. Vineyards can now spread to various areas, whereas in the past they were confined to the Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Odesa regions.
An analysis of international winegrowers’ experiences shows how technology operations have expanded throughout the production cycle. Specifically, the application of automated harvesting.
Furthermore, it is suggested that improving the educational process for both farmers and business managers is a crucial component of viticulture productivity growth.
