Implementation of International Food Standards in Ukraine
Abstract. Introduction. In this article it has been analyzed the food safety management systems in the European Union. The components of these systems were determined. Ukraine’s food industry has significant potential for further development and increase of exports to the EU countries in particular.
Purpose. Harmonization of standards is one of the important aspects which facilitates the successful implementation of such types of business models that would lead to a “revival” of the economy. Sure that taking into account when choosing a business model for the fact that the standards must be appropriate and harmonized gives the company additional benefits when entering new markets and conquering new customers. In this context, it is also important to direct the efforts of scientists and practitioners to build such types of business models, which, along with harmonization of standards, will require the creation of a value chain in our country based on in-depth processing. It is these types of business models that will contribute to the “revival” of the economy, as it involves the creation of new jobs, the export of finished products abroad, thus achieving an increase in export earnings and ensuring general economic welfare.
Results are determined as the state of implementation of international standards in Ukraine. Classification standards based on food safety management systems at the stage of primary production, transportation and storage, processing of food products, wholesale and retail trade. The main advantages of applying standards and certification schemes are determined. The main problems of the domestic enterprises of the food industry were identified, in particular: primarily raw material export of agro-industrial products instead of the offer of the final product, lagging behind the established stages of the transition to introducing food safety management systems based on the HACCP principles established by the law of Ukraine, etc. Proposed directions of development of food industry enterprises of Ukraine are offered.
Conclusions. Thus, enterprises of the food industry of Ukraine are entering the developed solvent markets of European countries in a short time to fulfill fundamentally new; it is needed specific imperative requirements. Additional source of revenues, and perhaps a transitional stage for the formation of the necessary logistical and, above all, financial basis, may become less demanding for the quality and at the same time more capacious markets of the countries of North Africa, Central and Southeast Asia, as well as the Persian Gulf.
