The Influence of Migration Processes on the Construction Industry of Ukraine
Abstract. Introduction. Migration processes are an important and objective component of the historical development of the world economy, however, due to the war started by Russia, this phenomenon has reached a threatening level for Ukraine. The reasons are obvious: the outflow of the labour force, relocation of business outside the country and reduction of capacity, illegal export of natural resources. The construction industry also suffered significant destruction, which partially lost its raw material base, production or found itself faced with the need to find new resources and sales markets, some workers went to the front, and others left the country.
Purpose. The purpose of the research is to reveal the essence of migration processes, the significance of migration in the international market, to determine the key causes and possible consequences for the post-war reconstruction of the economy, to identify ways of reducing it for the construction sector of Ukraine.
Results. The concept of “migration” is revealed as a process related to a person and his life activities, in particular labor migration, resource migration, business migration, investor migration, migration of scientists, migration of refugees. Migration processes must comply with certain legislative, administrative and economic regulatory conditions. In particular, we consider it expedient to develop and adopt the Law of Ukraine “On Migration”, which will be able to protect all migration processes and become the basis for the formation of migration policy in the state. Migration processes affected the main segments of construction, which lost workers, the market of raw materials and resources, and also reoriented their industry to the restoration of housing construction, modular towns, reconstruction of bomb shelters and construction of shelters, especially of the military direction, took a significant share in terms of market volumes, which contributes to the increase of national security.
Conclusions. The construction industry, like other sectors of the economy, will need reconstruction and the construction of a new vision of the future, where instead of destroyed enterprises, fundamentally new facilities with technological equipment, with alternative energy-saving technologies, will appear. We need to develop our own education and science, domestic science-intensive technologies. After all, we have to start our own, maximally closed production of key systems and weapons for the effective defense of the state, which also requires significant amounts of construction. And this will contribute to the formation of a new economy that relies on its own resources. The end of the war, economic growth based on the attraction of foreign investments, modernization and digitization of the economy, as a condition for increasing the level of welfare of the population, should be the main indicators of the return of Ukrainians and businesses home.
