Foreign Economic Strategies Of Transnational Corporations In The Conditions Of Ukraine International Integration
Abstract. Introduction. In the context of economic globalization, conditions are created for easier and faster entry of enterprises into foreign markets, international exchange of goods is intensified. International business is one of the important aspects of foreign economic activity of firms. In this regard, there is a need for thorough knowledge of real economic processes that occur in the world economic system, including at the level of individual firms, specific forms and methods of conducting international business.
Purpose. The purpose of this work is to analyze and evaluate the essence, features, advantages and disadvantages of foreign economic strategies of transnational corporations entering the domestic market and to develop practical recommendations for optimizing strategies for expanding their activities in the context of Ukraine’s international integration.
Results. In the article, the authors emphasize that strategy development is one of the most significant and complex stages of a company’s entry into a foreign market.
The authors analyzed the concepts that form the basis of the modern understanding of the development of the concept of strategy itself. The evolution of strategy development was studied. Three main groups of strategies for entering the foreign market were identified: export, contract and investment, and their advantages and disadvantages were outlined.
It is emphasized that the main strategy for conquering the Ukrainian market is export. The popularity of this strategy is explained, on the one hand, by the high market potential, and on the other hand, by the high investment risk indicators in Ukraine.
The second group includes contractual strategies for entering foreign markets, when a company transfers its intangible assets to a foreign partner under a corresponding contract in exchange for a fee or monetary reward. The largest franchisor companies are distinguished accordingly.
When entering a foreign market, international companies are increasingly choosing a direct investment strategy by creating their own assembly or production units. It is noted that a significant number of TNCs using a direct investment strategy are represented in Ukraine.
Conclusions. The authors formulated the following conclusions. Making a decision on the feasibility of a company’s penetration into a particular foreign market depends on a number of factors, such as the potential opportunities of this market, the presence of competition, the political and legal environment, as well as socio-cultural factors. The entry of foreign companies into foreign markets can be effective if foreign economic activity specialists possess the theory and practice of forming an enterprise’s strategy, taking into account the characteristics of specific markets and changes in market conditions.
