Management of Innovative Development of Enterprises in the Context of Sustainable Development of Rural Areas
Abstract. Introduction. The transformation of the economic environment under conditions of military aggression intensifies the need for enterprises to transition to an innovation-driven development model. The war has caused widespread disruptions to the availability of resources, logistics, and labor markets, which has had a particularly negative impact on agricultural enterprises that form the economic foundation of rural areas. In these circumstances, effective innovation management is essential for maintaining economic resilience and ensuring balanced territorial development.
Purpose. This study aims to substantiate theoretical and methodological approaches to managing the innovative development of enterprises under conditions of heightened uncertainty. Additionally, it seeks to identify effective tools for strengthening their sustainability in the context of rural development.
Results. The research establishes that innovative development is a complex process encompassing technological, organizational, managerial, and marketing transformations. The formation of innovation potential—including human, financial, and informational resources—is determined to be a key prerequisite for the adaptive functioning of enterprises. The study identifies priority areas for innovation, including digitalization, ecological modernization, activity diversification, and cooperative and cluster model development. Empirical observations confirm that innovation contributes to increased productivity, optimized costs, and market expansion. However, the war imposes constraints related to infrastructure destruction, limited financing, and unstable economic relations. This necessitates implementing adaptive management mechanisms and institutional support.
Conclusions. Effective management of innovative development is a systemic, strategic process that ensures enterprise competitiveness and long-term sustainability. Integrating digital technologies, strategic planning, and institutional support lays the groundwork for overcoming crises. Innovative activity is essential for restoring economic stability and enhancing the socioeconomic development of rural areas, making them more resilient to external shocks.
