Synergy of Logistics Management and Communication Management as a Driver of Quality and Competitiveness in the Food Business
Abstract. Introduction. The traditional separation of logistics management and communication management in food industry enterprises results in significant inefficiencies, increased operational costs, product losses, and reduced consumer trust. In the food sector, where product freshness, safety, and supply chain transparency are of paramount importance, such fragmentation creates significant risks. This article addresses the need to integrate these two management functions to improve the overall performance of food industry enterprises.
Purpose. The purpose of this study is to substantiate the necessity of integrating logistics management and communication management in food industry enterprises. The study aims to demonstrate that the synergy between these functions not only reduces costs and ensures product freshness but also strengthens consumer trust through transparent communication regarding the origin of raw materials, production processes, storage conditions, and transportation. Additionally, the study proposes a model of synergistic impact on product quality and competitiveness and identifies key performance indicators for assessing integration effectiveness.
Results. The study proves that the integration of logistics management and communication management provides comprehensive benefits. Optimized logistics, including warehouse management, inventory control, temperature monitoring, and route planning, directly reduce operational costs, minimize product losses, and ensure the timely delivery of fresh products. Transparent communication strategies, such as sharing information about product origin, storage conditions, transportation routes, and expiration monitoring, contribute to long-term consumer trust and brand loyalty. The article presents an original model of synergistic impact, demonstrating how the combination of logistics data (e.g., real-time traceability and cold chain integrity) with targeted consumer communication (e.g., QR codes on packaging and transparent supply chain information) improves perceptions of product quality and enhances market competitiveness. The article identifies key performance indicators for integration effectiveness, including reduced product spoilage rates, improved on-time delivery performance, increased consumer trust levels, higher transparency ratings, and decreased customer complaints.
Conclusions. The integration of logistics management and communication management is not merely desirable but essential for food industry enterprises seeking to maintain competitiveness. The synergy between these functions creates a synergistic cycle: efficient logistics provide a reliable factual basis for transparent communication, while transparent communication strengthens consumer trust. This trust contributes to sustained demand for consistently high-quality and safely delivered products.
